Hi I’m Kate

I am a secondary school language teacher and I teach Yoga and Meditation alongside my school teaching job.

Yoga and Meditation have changed the way I interact with the world.  There are so many tools contained within Yoga’s ancient wisdom to support us in creating a little more ease, finding clarity, acceptance, stillness and peace. I want to share these teachings and to enable others to experience all that these practices can offer.

I have been practising yoga in one way or another for as long as I can remember. My Mum had a round crocheted mat and a very well thumbed yoga book, I remember her setting up to practise in the living room and encouraging me to join her. My Mum's Mum, Nan-Nan, studied Buddhism and taught me as a little girl of its power. I loved this. As a teenager Mum would often tell me that yoga was what I needed to ground me when I was feeling highly strung, however I resisted. I wrote instead. Diary after diary - journaling was how I found my way through those years. Over the years Yoga came into my life again and again. When I visited India I was fascinated by the Ashram nearby and talk of the laughing yoga classes nearby and learning from the wisdom shared by my mother in law is humbling. I came to know that Yoga was something I wanted to understand more of, but couldn't find my way in. That is until ten years ago when I found the right teachers for me and the most wonderful yoga community right here in Nottingham.

I found myself hooked and in a place of deep curiosity. The ancient Yoga philosophy, which allows us self realisation and a deeper understanding of ourselves, is so much more than a series of postures on a mat. There is so much to this beautiful, ancient wisdom.

Since then Meditation and Yoga have played a more significant role in my life as I learnt more and more. in 2022 I undertook a nine month meditation training with Kings meditation and mentoring. In January 2023 I began my 200 hour hatha yoga teacher training with Deva school of Yoga at Hot Yoga Nottingham and graduated 10 months later. In September 2023 I completed a 6 month mentoring and coaching training with Michael King. Learning rather than teaching has been and continues to be wonderful and these practices have enabled me to find the space to make huge changes, to become more aware and to choose where I place attention. Life is busy and finding space to prioritise ourselves can seem impossible, yet giving ourselves time can be the greatest gift to ourselves and to the people around us.

I want to give people the opportunities and strategies to make space to look at what they truly desire, to find it and to cultivate a sense of being enough, to be able to move through this life with a sense of ease, satisfaction and joy; this is my dream.
